Lecture electronica Conferences > Wireless Congress > Session 6: LPWAN I
14:35-14:55 h | Virtual
Wireless technologies for Low-Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN) are opening completely new application scenarios and are, therefore, very well requested. Since they provide extremely energy and cost-efficient solutions to connect things, they are also enabling new business models, which is attracting different sectors throughout all verticals. As usual, the idea of one LPWAN is addressed by multiple technologies. The most common and standardized LPWAN technologies are the well-known LoRaWAN(r) and Sigfox. But there are also some proprietary solutions available and now there also is a new player on the market, called mioty. This results in recurring questions: Which one to choose and why? How to manage multiple of them? Both high-level questions are abstracting a couple of possible answers from commercial and technical point of view. At this session, STACKFORCE will provide an overview about the most common LPWAN technologies, their differences and similarities, as well as some ideas on how to decide for the most suitable technologies resp. the necessity to decide, and how to manage them, especially from maintenance point of view.
