Humanoid Robots – One Size Fits All?Humanoid robots are moving from demos to PoCs, with a market forecast to grow from 3B USD today to 25B USD in the early 2030s. Industrial use cases are the first scalable segment. Hardware remains the bottleneck: dexterous grippers, high-torque/high-precision actuation, and sensing still fall short of reliability and robustness needs for industrial applications. Actuators dominate the BoM. Electronics/sensor and controls innovation can meaningfully cut cost but cannot alone deliver the 3–5x cost-down needed for mass adoption. That requires actuator redesign and manufacturing scale. China is moving fastest, leveraging vertically integrated supply chains. Absent a comparable cost-down push, US and EU risk ceding hardware leadership to China.
