Together sustainable for a green future!

Consciously avoiding emissions

Sustainability is a mission that we can only implement together. We will help you make your electronica visit as environmentally friendly as possible. With our tips, you can significantly improve your personal eco-balance. Because for each individual, it's just a small step. Together, it's a whole lot of the way.

Act sustainably on site

  • Bring reusable cups or bottles that you can fill up for free at our water stations.
  • Choose regional, seasonal, and ideally vegetarian dishes and meals. This saves CO₂.
  • You do not have to bring your ticket printed out! It is sufficient if you scan the ticket on your cell phone at the entrance. There you will receive a badge. This way you save paper.
  • Use the time on site purposefully and intensively. Take the opportunity that the industry is on site and make as many business contacts as possible at the fair. This will save you having to travel individually to meet customers, partners and service providers.
  • Which flyers, brochures and catalogs do you really need? Information such as the hall plan, exhibitor list, lecture program and much more can be found conveniently and quickly in the electronica app or the exhibitor directory. The information can be used optimally both in preparation and on site thanks to the WLAN we provide free of charge. This can reduce the printing of brochures and flyers and save material for the benefit of the environment.
  • Only take sustainable or environmentally friendly giveaways with you from the trade show, if at all.
  • Did you receive a lanyard? Feel free to use it for your next trade show visit. The more often they are reused, the fewer lanyards need to be produced.

Environmentally friendly infrastructure

  • Climate-friendly travel: Choose the environmentally friendly public transport option for your journey to the exhibition grounds. Thanks to the seamless connection between the exhibition center and Munich's public transport system, you will always be right in the middle of the action. This not only protects the environment, but also your wallet.
  • Form car pools if you are traveling by car.
  • Green refueling on site: 110 stations are available on the trade fair grounds for charging your electric vehicle.

Everyone can make their contribution to climate protection, including you as a visitor to electronica.

CO₂ emissions are released by the travel of our visitors. With the GoGreen Ticket, we are offering the opportunity to contribute to climate protection for the greenhouse gas emissions produced. This climate protection contribution of EUR 7 (including VAT) is invested in three high-quality myclimate climate protection projects that meet the highest standards (Gold Standard, Plan Vivo) and demonstrably make a positive contribution to sustainable development locally and regionally. Let us walk the path to a greener future together.

Our project selection—our responsibility

Your contribution to climate protection is made by supporting the high-quality myclimate climate protection projects, which meet the highest standards (Gold Standard, Plan Vivo) and, in addition to reducing greenhouse gases, demonstrably make a positive contribution to sustainable development locally and regionally. The collected GoGreen climate protection contributions are divided between the following regional and international climate protection projects.

The primary objective of the program is to disseminate water purification systems to low-income households and institutions such as schools, starting in Uganda. Carbon finance is used to give households access to the clean water technologies thereby improving the livelihoods and health conditions of thousands of people and at the same time reducing CO₂ emissions by reducing the consumption of non-renewable firewood and charcoal.

Situation without project:
Water purification by boiling with non-renewable wood and charcoal

Yearly CO₂ reduction:
61,399 t

Your support contributes to the following 8 Sustainable Development Goals:

SDG 1 - No poverty
Over 130 tons of firewood can be saved by a school on average per water filtration system.

SDG 3 - Good Health
More than 210,000 pupils benefit from the installed systems.

SDG 4 - Quality Education
Thanks to clean drinking water, pupils are ill less often and can attend school more regularly.

SDG 6 - Clean water and sanitary facilities
One school can treat 457,000 litres of drinking water per year.

SDG 12 - Responsible consumption and production
354 water filter tanks and water treatment filters have been installed so far.

SDG 13 - Climate Actions
61,399 tonnes of CO₂ are saved per year.

SDG 15 - Life on land
1,266 hectares of forest saved from deforestation.

As of end 2022

The installation of domestic biogas plants substitutes the use of firewood and chemical fertilizers in the Karnataka region. In addition to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and less degradation of the forest people directly profit from higher crop yields and less indoor pollution. Moreover, the project will also reduce methane emissions from cattle manure.

Situation without project:
Using firewood and kerosene for cooking

Yearly CO₂ reduction:
45,650 t

Your support contributes to the following 10 Sustainable Development Goals:

SDG 1 - No poverty
The use of slurry (organic fertilizer produced by the farmers themselves) helps to prevent small farmers from becoming dependent on chemical fertilizers, thus improving their families’ financial situation.

SDG 2 - Zero hunger
To date, the biogas systems have produced 387,168 tons of organic fertilizer and thus reduced 7,752 tons of chemical fertilizer, thus contributing to sustainable agriculture.

SDG 3 - Good health and well-being
50,000 persons have benefited from better air quality since the start of the project.

SDG 4 - Quality education
Because the time-consuming collection of firewood is no longer necessary, children have more time to go to school and do homework. This gives each family almost 1.6 hours of additional time per day.

SDG 5 - Gender equity
Only women are entitled to buy and own a biogas plant. This helps to level out the balance of power in the family and to strengthen the position of the women.

SDG 7 - Affordable and clean energy
Over 8,000 biogas digesters have been installed since the start of the project.

SDG 8 - Decent work and economic growth
22 permanent jobs have been created for the local population and more than 8,000 people have been trained in the use of biogas plants.

SDG 12 - Responsible consumption and production
The recycling of organic waste contributes to sustainable waste management.

SDG 13 - Climate actions
Each biogas biodigester avoids 5.9 t CO₂ and reduced wood consumption by 3.7 t per year.

SDG 15 - Life on land
To date, the program has reduced wood consumption by 279,697 tons and has thus saved 3,831 hectares of forest from deforestation.

As of end 2022

This project distributes efficient cook stoves for returnees in Burundi. The stoves are part of an aid package handed out in reception camps by aid organisations such as UNHCR and World Food Programme. The stoves have improved combustion, resulting in reduced household air pollution with its associated adverse health effects. The stoves also require less fuel wood which conserves forests, saves on the chore of gathering wood and reduces CO2 emissions.

Situation without project:
Higher consumption of non-renewable biomass

Yearly CO₂ reduction:
395,379 t

Your support contributes to the following 8 Sustainable Development Goals:

SDG 1 - No poverty
Reduction of fuel consumption and associated expenses by 80 per cent.

SDG 3 - Good Health
Reduction of indoor air pollution and related risk to respiratory diseases.

SDG 5 - Gender Equality
Women regain time otherwise spent collecting firewood and cooking.

SDG 7 - Affordable and clean energy
Distribution of 200,000 improved cook stoves to returnees.

SDG 8 - Decent work and economic growth
20 jobs generated.

SDG 12 - Responsible consumption and production
Reduce consumption of firewood,

SDG 13 - Climate action
Avoidance of 395,379 t CO₂ per year and 1.6 t CO₂ per stove per year.

SDG 15 - Life on land
Avoidance of 2,500 ha of deforestation per year.
