Vortragsbeschreibung

Driven by the Internet of Things (IoT), wireless connectivity, and rising consumer demand for smart home automation, the modern home security landscape is rapidly evolving. Representing a global market currently valued between $2.9B and $4.9B—and projected to surpass $13B to $21B by the early 2030s—smart locks are rapidly replacing traditional mechanical hardware. However, developers face severe system incompatibility and interoperability fragmentation across proprietary products. To eliminate these bottlenecks, the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) launched the Aliro 1.0 specification on February 26, 2026. Aliro establishes a unified, cryptographically secured, and privacy-preserving framework for seamless credential exchange across mobile devices, wearables, and smart door locks. Alongside the CSA’s Matter protocol, Aliro paves the way for total smart home ecosystem integration. This presentation examines the critical trends, technical hurdles, and design considerations facing modern access control engineers. Crucially, we provide actionable development strategies and concrete hardware solutions utilizing the Infineon Smart Lock Kit, demonstrating how developers can overcome common implementation friction points and cost-effectively accelerate time-to-market.
