GoGreen Ticket—together sustainable for a green future!

Please note: The content on this page refers to electronica 2022. Up-to-date information will be available here in spring 2024.

Everyone can make their contribution to climate protection—including you as a visitor to electronica 2022. That is why we would like to offer you the opportunity to quickly and easily offset your CO₂ footprint at the exhibition. By paying an offset fee for the average CO₂ consumption of our visitors at the last electronica, you are making a significant contribution to promoting climate protection projects. This offset fee of EUR 5 will be invested in three high-quality myclimate carbon offset projects that meet the highest standards (Gold Standard, Plan Vivo) and, in addition to reducing greenhouse gases, demonstrably make a positive contribution to sustainable development locally and regionally.

Let's walk the path to a greener future together.

"Climate change poses a tremendous challenge to us as a society and requires us to take responsible action – both as private individuals and a community at large. At Messe München, we have been working for years to reduce our carbon footprint. As part of our efforts, we have set the goal of becoming climate neutral by 2030. Our trade fairs reflect this environmental commitment as well: electronica 2022 has made sustainability one of its primary focal points and will highlight the critically important role that electronics are playing in the development of more environmentally conscious technologies. Of course, we also want to provide our exhibitors, visitors and partners with an opportunity to help us protect the environment by enabling them to purchase a GoGreen ticket here."

Dr. Reinhard Pfeiffer, Deputy CEO of Messe München

Consciously avoiding emissions

In addition to the GoGreen CO₂ Ticket, there will be other opportunities for you to avoid emissions, save raw materials and protect the environment during your visit to electronica 2022.

Climate protection on site

  • Smart deposit system or your own dishes: reusable cups, bottles or other containers are welcome at electronica. So feel free to bring your own to avoid waste.
  • Walking with a good conscience: no corridor carpets on the exhibition grounds and high rates of textile reuse support the deliberate use of resources.
  • Cleanly separated: strict recycling makes electronica even more sustainable, which is why we dispose of the waste resulting from assembly and dismantling as commercial waste for recycling. Recyclable materials can thus be returned to the economic cycle.

Environmentally friendly travel

  • Climate-friendly journey: with electronica’s special Event Ticket for Deutsche Bahn your travel will be low emission. And thanks to the trade fair center’s excellent public transport connections to Munich you will always be right in the middle of the action.
  • Green refueling on site: 50 stations are available on the exhibition grounds for charging your electric vehicle.

Our project selection—our responsibility

The CO₂ emissions are offset in high-quality myclimate carbon offset projects that meet the highest standards (Gold Standard, Plan Vivo) and, in addition to reducing greenhouse gases, demonstrably make a positive contribution to sustainable development locally and regionally. The collected GoGreen ticket fees are distributed to the following international carbon offset projects.

The primary objective of the program is to disseminate water purification systems to low-income households and institutions such as schools, starting in Uganda. Carbon finance is used to give households access to the clean water technologies thereby improving the livelihoods and health conditions of thousands of people and at the same time reducing CO₂ emissions by reducing the consumption of non-renewable firewood and charcoal.

Situation without project:
Water purification by boiling with non-renewable wood and charcoal

Yearly CO₂ reduction:
61.399 t

Your support contributes to the following 8 Sustainable Development Goals:

SDG 1 - No poverty
Over 130 tons of firewood can be saved by a school on average per water filtration system.

SDG 3 - Good Health
More than 210,000 pupils benefit from the installed systems.

SDG 4 - Quality Education
Thanks to clean drinking water, pupils are ill less often and can attend school more regularly.

SDG 6 - Clean water and sanitary facilities
One school can treat 457,000 litres of drinking water per year.

SDG 12 - Responsible consumption and production
354 water filter tanks and water treatment filters have been installed so far.

SDG 13 - Climate Actions
50,000 tonnes of CO₂ are saved per year.

SDG 15 - Life on land
1,266 hectares of forest saved from deforestation.

SDG 17 - Partnerships for the goals
Development, transfer and distribution of environmentally friendly water treatment technology.

Installing the largest solar power plant in the Caribbean the project is an alternative to the fossil driven electricity fuel mix by sun power and furthermore creates local employment, a visitor center and a fund for social and ecological activities.

Situation without project:
National electricity fuel mix

Yearly CO₂ reduction:
48,026 t

Your support contributes to the following 7 Sustainable Development Goals:

SDG 1 - No poverty
5 percent of the income from carbon credits goes into a community fund for social and environmental activities.

SDG 4 - Quality education
People are being trained on different aspects of the project, also with the help of the educational centre.

SDG 7 Affordable and clean energy
219 GWh of renewable energy has been delivered to the grid until 2020. This means locally produced renewable electricity for around 130,000 households.

SDG 8 - Decent work and economic growth
53 long-term positions have been generated (40 men and 13 women). Additionally, 36 security employees from an external company are being employed and 200 jobs were created during construction.

SDG 13 - Climate action
31,000 tonnes of CO2 are saved per year.

SDG 15 - Life on land
2,000 trees have been reforested.

SDG 17 - Partnerships for the goals
Foreign experts were involved in the project to build local capacity. 264,000 pieces of solar modules have been installed (equivalent to 50 football pitches), completing the spread of environmentally sound technology.

The installation of domestic biogas plants substitutes the use of firewood and chemical fertilizers in the Karnataka region. In addition to the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and less degradation of the forest people directly profit from higher crop yields and less indoor pollution. Moreover, the project will also reduce methane emissions from cattle manure.

Situation without project:
Using firewood and kerosene for cooking

Yearly CO₂ reduction:
45,650 t

Your support contributes to the following 11 Sustainable Development Goals:

SDG 1 - No poverty
The use of slurry (organic fertilizer produced by the farmers themselves) helps to prevent small farmers from becoming dependent on chemical fertilizers, thus improving their families’ financial situation.

SDG 2 - Zero hunger
To date, the biogas systems have produced 301,534 tons of organic fertilizer and thus reduced 6,130 tons of chemical fertilizer, thus contributing to sustainable agriculture.

SDG 3 - Good health and well-being
50,000 persons have benefited from better air quality since the start of the project.

SDG 4 - Quality education
Because the time-consuming collection of firewood is no longer necessary, children have more time to go to school and do homework. This gives each family almost 1.2 hours of additional time per day.

SDG 5 - Gender equity
Only women are entitled to buy and own a biogas plant. This helps to level out the balance of power in the family and to strengthen the position of the women.

SDG 7 - Affordable and clean energy
8,033 biogas digesters have been installed since the start of the project.

SDG 8 - Decent work and economic growth
22 permanent jobs have been created for the local population and more than 8,000 people have been trained in the use of biogas plants.
