Biography

"Elias Kettunen, Development Engineer & Industrial PhD Student Cicor · Mälardalens Universitet Elias is a development engineer and industrial PhD student working at the intersection of embedded systems and applied AI. In his engineering role at Cicor, he designs and delivers hardware-close products spanning PCB layout and system architecture, sensor integration and embedded AI deployment. His doctoral research, conducted jointly with Mälardalens Universitet, investigates how AI/ML workloads should be mapped onto the compute units of heterogeneous embedded SoCs. The work addresses a core asymmetry in fixed-function acceleration — that it serves some algorithm classes well and others poorly — and asks what that costs, how it can be mitigated, and how the resulting deployment strategies can be validated under real operating conditions. His work sits at the boundary of electronics engineering and deployable embedded AI, with a practical focus on making ML work reliably on constrained hardware."
