Lecture description
Deploying Solid-State Transformers (SSTs) at utility-scale medium voltages requires moving beyond conventional line-frequency topologies. In this session we will dissect the semiconductor innovations needed to overcome the industry's two most critical SST engineering hurdles:
High-Voltage Converter Design: Implementing modular, cascaded series-stacked submodule topologies that optimize efficiency, thermal paths, and isolation boundaries.
Control Optimization and Synchronization: Mitigating high dv/dt transient noise and balancing dynamic voltage distribution across stacked power blocks using high-isolation, sub-nanosecond synchronized inter-module communication.
Attendees will walk away with a practical engineering framework to design autonomous, high-density grid power nodes.
