Lecture description

Functional metasurfaces turn the surface into a design parameter for electronics. Using Direct Laser Interference Patterning (DLIP), periodic micro- and nanostructures are created on metals and polymers in a single contact-free step, without chemicals or masks. The talk covers the full process chain: from surface pretreatment for bonding, soldering and joining to targeted functionalization of contacts, interfaces and tools, alone or combined with functional coatings (xDLIP®). Examples include contact resistance and tribology of connectors, adhesion of components and thermal interfaces, and how SurFunction’s ELIPSYS® platform brings this into series production.
