Lecture description
Modern electric vehicles depend on functional materials at every stage of assembly. Structural adhesives bond e-motor lamination stacks. Dielectric coatings insulate battery cells. Primers prepare glass surfaces for bonding. Coatings protect and decorate body panels and interior components. These materials are applied at hundreds of points across a single vehicle, and their precision and uniformity directly affect vehicle performance, safety, and longevity. Yet the processes used to deposit them have changed relatively little. Spray coating, dispensing, and film lamination remain dominant across automotive production lines; methods developed for fixed geometries, single product variants, and analog process control.
