Lecture description
The global electronics supply chain is entering a new era. Semiconductors and electronic components are increasingly treated as critical infrastructure, while geopolitics, regulation, and regional industrial policies are reshaping sourcing decisions and market access. This presentation examines three structural shifts affecting the industry: the strategic role of high-tech companies, the trade-off between buffering and traditional second-source strategies for supply chain resilience, and the emergence of regional trade ecosystems that challenge decades of global optimization. The session argues that future competitive advantage will depend less on maximizing efficiency and more on designing supply chains that balance resilience, regionalization, and long-term strategic effectiveness.
