(E10-12) Agentic Hardware Engineering: Why Start with Requirements

Agentic AI has reshaped software — and hardware engineering is the next frontier. This talk examines what made software the natural starting point for AI adoption, and what hardware engineering teams can learn from that shift. For teams designing complex physical products, the question is no longer whether AI will matter, but how and where to begin. Long development cycles, multidisciplinary teams, and physical constraints demand the right entry point. Requirements engineering — defining and managing what a product must do — is that entry point. This session explores how Altium® approaches agentic requirements engineering. We've developed AI agents that live and act inside Requirements Portal, giving hardware engineers a way to close the gap between their mental model and the team's shared one.
