Audio podcast: electronica 2018—Artificial intelligence and autonomous driving

Soundcloud

From navigation to complex driver assistance systems: over the past 20 years, more and more electronics have come into the cars. It will take a while until cars are fully autonomous on our roads - but there are many approaches to this. Essentially, three things have to happen in order for a vehicle to drive without a driver: The car has to perceive its environment in a similar way to a human via sensors. It then has to evaluate the data from the sensors and interpret them correctly. And finally, it has to act after the evaluation, that is, accelerate, steer, brake and so on. Artificial intelligence is an integral part of this. Felix Friedmann of AID, Autonomous Intelligent Driving, a subsidiary of Audi, works on these highly complex processes. Friedmann is part of the developer team for the software that will be used by the VW Group brands. In conversation he gave us a deep insight into his work and reported on the state of development of autonomous driving.

Audio podcast: electronica 2018—Blockchain, Tangle & Co .: For a world without cybercrime and data scandals

What do Distributed Ledger Technologies (DLT) bring? The best known of them is probably Blockchain. Many attribute her a revolutionary potential. Because undoubtedly Blockchain can do more than Bitcoin. After all, the controversial cryptocurrency is likely to play a decisive role in ensuring that the technology that underlies it has even come into the public eye. DLT promise nothing less than an unalterable digital identity, reliable online transactions and full control over your own data. Internet fraud and data scandals were a thing of the past. Dr. Klaus Holthausen, CEO of the Swiss stock corporation TEAL, and Tobias Martin Zeitler, company founder from Munich, explain the functionalities and potentials of DLT on the basis of illustrative examples. The differences between the two DLT Blockchain and Tangle are also discussed. Either technology has its advantages for specific applications. Both could become the basis of a trusted technical infrastructure.

Audio podcast: "Germany does not have to hide" - the state of development of the automotive

Soundcloud

The situations that self-driving cars have to cope with are very complex. They place extreme demands on the hardware and the software. The so-called artificial intelligence has made great progress in recent years and has also provided a quantum leap in the development of autonomous driving. In our podcast we look at the requirements for self-driving cars. We spoke with the following experts on artificial intelligence and the development of the mobility of the future: Lars Reger, Chief Technology Officer of the automotive business unit of the Dutch semiconductor manufacturer NXP; Dr. Markus Sonnemann, Head of Advanced Development of the Automotive Electronics Division of Bosch; Damian Borth, Professor of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning at the University of St. Gallen; Felix Friedmann, developer at AID.
