The presentation is introducing innovative developments on the field of battery management, based on close collaboration between NXP and Fraunhofer IISB. One project is Fraunhofer’s open BMS platform foxBMS with a strong focus on functional safety and artificial intelligence (AI) enabled by NXP´s new Battery Cell Controllers. The common development embraces state-of-theart R&D, the learnings result from European common projects such as SENSIBAT and LIBERTY. Within these projects NXP and Fraunhofer IISB worked together on read-out circuitry for novel cellintegrated 2-dimensional temperature and pressure sensors, as well as on improving cell diagnostics to be able to early anomaly detect spot differences between cells in an early stage, thus mitigating the consequences of a failure in battery systems.
