Various key factors are essential for the further establishment of electric vehicles and the worldwide sustainable mobility progress: Increasing battery performance, a comprehensive high-power charging technology, seamless customer interfaces, global standards and a broad industry support. Under the CharIN umbrella cross-industry stakeholders continue moving towards interoperable charging. Its international community is comprised of leading global companies representing every link to the e-mobility value chain and multiple experts working together to drive the technology for charging all kinds of electric vehicles. The scope has been extending to Commercial Vehicles and thus, setting requirements and standards for the development of the Megawatt Charging System (MCS). With a broad supplier base and available prototypes, MCS is getting momentum within the extended mobility industry. Heavy duty vehicles of all kinds, from long haul to mining, the marine and aero industry with its electric ships, e-ferries, planes and VTOLs are potential fields of numerous applications.
