Within the HV system architecture, technology leaps are taking place in the field of functional safety (FuSa). As switches and fuses face an increased integration as well as challenging reliability requirements from autonomous driving features, they must meet the demands of a service-free operation, intelligent diagnosis and nonreactive, reliable isolation in case of fault detection in order to prevent costs for the accessibility and replacement of damaged components. With the application of innovative and cost and energy efficient semiconductors, these problems can be solved. Therefore, a close partnership between Tier 1 suppliers and semiconductor manufacturers should be aspired, combining the key know-how regarding the construction and connection technology, the semiconductor technology and a holistic system know-how in the field of HV battery, electric and electronic systems.
