The novel primary-side controller XDP™ XDPS2221 for combined control of an AC-DC PFC-stage and a DC-DC hybrid flyback stage for USB-PD EPR adapters and chargers is presented. With the help of the combo controller, the operation of both stages can be harmonized for optimum performance. The presented demonstrator shows the superior system performance when combining the combo-controller with CoolGaN™ and OptiMOS™ devices as well as EZ-PD™ CCG3PA USB-C PD controller.
