With the emergence of wide-band gap semiconductors and their inherent advantages compared to Silicon power devices, power electronic systems with higher switching frequencies and advanced modulation schemes have been enabled with power densities that were up to now unachievable. In this talk it will be discussed on the examples of USB-C adapters and on-board chargers which topologies and modulation schemes are required to reach the full system benefits of wide bandgap power devices. Finally, an outlook on future trends and applications will close the talk.
