The SSL Forum gives participants an overview of the technologies that are used in SSL (solid-state lighting) systems. Based on selected examples it will explain the current state of the art as well as the relationships and influences between the technologies used. The forum addresses electronics developers and system designers as well as project managers, production engineers and supply-chain managers who are involved in SSL development projects.
Developing efficient, optimized LED systems calls for the use of various technologies and combining them with one another. On the one hand, that includes technologies that make it possible to efficiently produce high-quality light in the semiconductor. But one also needs the right power electronics to power the LED and good thermal management to ensure the necessary cooling. These partial systems are closely intertwined with one another and influence the quality of the light emitted by the SSL system. Besides the LED as the light source, which reflects the state of the art and will be the focus of the forum, organic LEDs will also be discussed in detail. Another focus topic is the ongoing development of SSL systems into smart lighting systems by networking the SSL system and incorporating sensors and new operating concepts. The predominantly technical content of the lectures will be complemented and rounded out by an analysis of the SSL market and LED applications both with regard to their development and future prospects.
The content of the SSL Forum will be presented in a keynote and six technical lectures. It will conclude with a Tech Panel Discussion about trends and future prospects in solid-state lighting. Forum participants will be able to ask questions during the discussion.
